Cultivating Lasting Inner Tranquility Through Mindful Movement
There’s no denying the benefits of meditation. It can help bring a sense of inner peace, reduce stress and anxiety levels, and even bring clarity into your life.
When we think of meditation, our minds often default to an image of us sitting still with our eyes closed. While stillness can be incredibly beneficial to cultivate a strong connection with yourself, movement practices can help shift energy and bring a whole new perspective.
First off, there is no one-size fits all when it comes to mediation. From moving practices such as yoga, hiking or dance, to more alternative methods like guided meditations using music or visualizations - choosing what works for you is the best way to ensure success. Some days, a seated practice might be the most beneficial, while other days, putting on your favorite music and dancing around the room will be your best option. Meditation is a practice that takes time to build. Do not overwhelm yourself and think that you need to meditate for 45 min to achieve success. Start with just five minutes a day. Or five minutes every other day. You choose! Whether you choose to sit in silence for five minutes and be still, listen to your favorite song for five minutes and dance or close your eyes and stretch for five minutes—any practice that feels good for you in that moment is what your meditation practice should look like. Let your body choose what movements feel good to you. You do you boo!
It’s also important to note that there’s no such thing as “good” or “bad” meditating – so don't worry if you find yourself becoming distracted from time to time during practice. Remember that meditation isn't about slowing down or getting rid of thoughts; it's about bringing forth awareness and balance in both body and mind by tuning into yourself deeply even amidst chaos.
Last but not least - being able to meditate anywhere is an essential skill for those who would like to access their inner peace on a daily basis, or have the capability to remain calm in stressful situations. No matter how chaotic the environment may be, having the ability to remain mindful of your feelings helps build resilience over time, allowing you to become less reactive in difficult situations. Furthermore it also helps give us an overall sense of calm throughout all aspects of life.
